PUPPY CLASSES
In our Puppy Classes, we emphasize learning skills and socialization.
Your puppy will learn how to walk on a leash, sit on command, and come when called.
You will also learn how to work through common puppy problems such as crate training, housebreaking, chewing, jumping on people, and grooming.
Introduction to Dog Obedience
Introduction to Dog Obedience classes assist you in having a pleasant home companion. This is
basic obedience work (heel with sit, down, stand, recall with finish, stays), and is begun entirely on leash. Off leash work is introduced as the class progresses. All Heel Work is done on leash. This class offers and excellent foundation for continued Obedience participation.
NOVICE OBEDIENCE
This class is open to all handlers wishing to participate in AKC Obedience Trials. The goal is to prepare you and your dog to compete in the Novice Obedience Ring
It is strongly recommended that our dog is capable of reliably performing ALL aspects of Intro to Dog Obedience before taking this class!
These classes fine-tune you and your dog in higher levels of obedience. You will be working at competitive levels in these classes. Rally Obedience is also offered throughout the year.
Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog International preparation
SMOTC offers these classes to help you and your dog prepare for evaluations to earn the AKC Canine Good Citzen certification, and the Therapy Dog International certification. Please note that these classes are very helpful to handlers and dogs wishing to pursue these certifications, but NO CLASS IS REQUIRED IN ORDER FOR YOUR DOG TO BE EVALUATED.
